Human chain to dig Goisa canal and Poda river in Paikgacha and demand release of encroachment

A human chain has been held to demand the digging of Goisa Canal and Poda River in Paikgacha and the release of illegal encroachment. On Tuesday afternoon in front of Wazed Ali Secondary School of Lata Union, the local people organized this human chain program on the bank of Goisa canal. Under the chairmanship of former UP member and journalist Krishna Roy and moderated by village doctor Newton Mistry, president of Paikgacha Press Club Ed. FMA Razzak, Vice Principal of Kapilmuni College Tridib Kumar Mondal, Awami League leader Sohrab Howlader, Sheikh Alauddin, Professor Rezaul Karim, Lecturer Kamal Hossain, Headmaster spoke in the human chain program. Gopal Biswas, former head teacher Surya Kanti Sarkar, youth leader Aheduzzaman Moral, Babu Lal Biswas, Jagadish Dey, Manik Bhadra, Jayanthi Mondal, teacher Sirajul Islam, Milton Biswas, former UP member Kali Das Mondal, youth leader Mansh Mondal, Kumaresh Sarkar, Premanshu Sarkar, Suchitra Sarkar, Sushant Dafadar, Debbrat Sheel, Harichad Sarkar, Subrata Tarafdar, Dilip Sarkar, Animesh Mondal, Vikas Das, Ranjit Adhikari and Mofizul Islam. Speakers said during the human chain programme, Goysa canal and Poda river from Gangarkona pitch road to Dhalai sluic gate in Lata Union. Out of which Goisa Canal 19 and Poda River 55 acres total 74 acres. The canal is very important for water supply and crop production in the area. Santosh and Iqbal Ghazi dams and fish farming in the canal area are disrupting water supply and crop production. Besides, speakers in the human chain program complained that crores of rupees have been wasted by the government in the name of digging the canal. The speakers demanded immediate opening of Goisa canal and Poda river for public interest.
