Police recovered the naked body of a housewife named Razia Khatun Sumi (26) floating from a pond in Mirpur, Kushtia.
On Friday morning, the body of the housewife was recovered from the pond next to the house in Krishnapur village of Ward No. 9 of Fulbaria Union of Upazila.
Razia Khatun Sumi is the wife of Rakib Ali of Krishnapur village of Phulbaria Union. She was a mother of two children.
A young man named Nazrul Islam, son of the deceased Badsha Pramanik of the same area, has been detained by the police for questioning in this incident.
Rakib Ali, the husband of the deceased said, I was sleeping with all the family at home at night. At that time a call came on Sumi’s mobile phone. He left the room to speak and never came back.
After searching, I saw his naked body floating in the pond next to the house. He claimed that it was a planned murder and demanded strict punishment for those involved in the murder.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter and said that local people informed the police after seeing the body floating in the pond on Friday morning.
The police went and recovered the naked body of housewife Razia Khatun Sumi while floating and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A youth named Nazrul Islam from the same area has been brought to the police station for questioning in this incident. The mystery of death will be known after the interrogation.
